“Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart.”
Every August I experience my “Oh my gosh! Summer is almost over!” hyper mode. I want to make sure I experience every beautiful Central Oregon day to the max. We still have several months ahead of us promising great golf weather, and as the president, one of my priorities is to make sure our organization is going strong and member expectations are met or exceeded. Weekly golf events, golf clinics, monthly socials, handicap support, the website, the newsletter, recruitment of new members, and words of comfort and encouragement to our golf friends are just a few examples that would not happen if we didn’t have members stepping up to volunteer their time on a committee or the Board.
There are many reasons why one chooses to volunteer: Volunteers want to have fun! Volunteers want to give back. Volunteers love to try new things. Volunteers want to make a positive difference! Volunteers have knowledge and experience to share. Volunteers want to meet new people. Volunteers need to feel needed. Volunteers volunteer because they can!
Several board positions are opening due to terms being up. The Board of Directors is in the process of identifying a nominating committee and candidates for the open positions. Please let me know if you have an interest in any of the following and let’s get together to chat!
Volunteers are needed for the following committees: nominating, recruitment, marketing, handicap, membership, events and activities, website, newsletter, Fairway Friends (mentors), and social media. Committee members report to the designated Director and do not need to attend monthly board meetings, though they are welcome to.
Board of Director positions open: Communications Director, Recruitment Director, Marketing Director, Golf Education Director, Member Services Director, and Events and Activities Director.
Thank you for your consideration of becoming more involved and I look forward to hearing from you.
Cheers to more golf and networking opportunities!
